This week, provincial nominees were invited by Manitoba and British Columbia via their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
More than 400 applicants were invited by the provinces collectively, from streams intended for qualified and in-demand individuals wishing to relocate to their areas.
Streams that gave priority to foreign graduates and in-demand workers in their particular regions were the ones from which nominees were invited. Continue reading to find out more.
Results of provincial immigration: April 6–12
BC, or British Columbia
At least 88 invitations to apply for permanent residence (PR) through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program’s (BCPNP) Skilled Worker, International Graduate (which includes Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option) stream were sent out. This stream is intended for foreign graduates with a legitimate job offer from an employer in British Columbia and who have completed their studies at one of the province’s universities or colleges within the last three years.
Those with professional experience in the in-demand roles the province is looking for were invited. These in-demand careers specifically included:
- Childcare professionals, who needed a minimum score of 90 to be invited;
- Construction professionals, who needed a minimum score of 95 to be invited;
- Healthcare professionals who need a minimum score of 95;
- Tech professionals who needed a minimum score of 116; and
- Veterinary care professionals who needed a minimum score of 80.
It is clear that this is an improved provincial nomination stream since it includes the EEBC option. Those who are in the Express Entry pool may be requested to apply for permanent residence in a province through enhanced streams since they are in line with the Express Entry management system. Manitoba
More than 350 individuals received invitations to apply from the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).
The MPNP extended invitations to 276 workers in in-demand occupations in the province to apply through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Occupation-specific selection stream (a component of the Manitoba Work Experience pathway). In particular, workers were classified under the following NOCs (National Occupation Classifications):
- 33102—Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates;
- 60020—Retail and wholesale trade managers; and
- Group 731—Workers in general construction trades.
*The NOC system is Canada’s standardised method to categorise occupations within the country.
Additionally, 87 individuals were invited by the MPNP via the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. The minimum score required for selection in this draw was 691, and candidates had to declare that they were invited by the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
Both of these programs are upgraded streams because 81 of the 363 invitations sent out were to candidates who also claimed to have a valid Express Entry profile.
