IRCC has updated its processing time for all the application categories on its page. This page will update you about the current processing time for all immigration applications.
In 2022, IRCC upgraded its processing tool to show accurate data on processing time rather than service standards.
Earlier IRCC displayed just the service standards time which represents their goal of processing the applications. Service standards are seldom revised.
Processing time for more than 80% of the citizenship and permanent resident applications is online and they are updated by IRCC weekly considering the past 6 months experience. This will provide more realistic figures about the current application backlogs and inventory.
The processing time for Temporary resident applications is also updated weekly using the date from the past 6 to 8 months figure. The motive behind sharing this data is to give the applicants an idea of how long it will take to get the decision on whether their applications will be accepted or rejected.
Further, the processing time for application varies depending on the category to category and what the priorities are now. Currently, IRCC is processing applications in the healthcare sector because Canada is facing a shortage of healthcare professionals.
